April 17, 6:30 p.m: FRIENDS FROM AFAR
We're going to be joined by Austin Peeler, our guy on the inside at Neal's Yard in London. He helps us hand-select the cheeses that we buy and that you lucky sods get to eat. He'll be talking about the new Pitchfork Cheddar from Trethowan Brothers.
We'll also be joined by Mark Davidson, an U.S.-dwelling Aussie wine expert to talk about... well, Australian wines.
Enjoy a hunk of Pitchfork Cheddar, an extra-mature cheese, clothbound with lard, and with a dense soft, flaky texture. Fun fact: It's created only 5 miles from Cheddar, England and a hunk of farm made Montgomery's Cheddar (one of the shops favorites).
It'll be perfectly paired with 2018 Penley Estate 'Tolmer' Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, Australia and Chambers Rosewood Muscadelle, Victoria, Australia.
WHEN: April 17, 6:30 p.m
HOW MUCH: $60
HOW THIS GONNA WORK?
1. Go here to sign up.
2. Show up at TCS during shop hours (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on the Friday before class (April 16) or the Saturday of class (April 17) to pick up your wine and eats.
3. Make sure you set up the Zoom app on your phone, tablet, or computer. (Tech-challenged? Here's a handy little tutorial.) Please figure all this out well in advance of the class, so you don't miss anything. Note: The private video conferencing link to the [date] class will be provided in a separate email sent the day of the tasting.
4. Log in by clicking on the Zoom link we send you. The session will open at 6 p.m. so you can get a running (i.e. drinking) start — and also figure out all the techie stuff. The actual class starts at 6:30 p.m.
